Notapub

Notapub is a quieter way to find the specific person you need, just by saying it in plain words. Not a feed to scroll, not a place to perform. You write what you're looking for, what you're trying to figure out, what you'd love to get into, or what you can offer, and Notapub points it at the person it's for. Nearby, or anywhere.

How it works

• Say what you're after. A problem you're stuck on, a question that's been nagging at you, a thing you're trying to track down, a skill you want to pick up, or something you can offer, teach, lend, or trade.
• Notapub does the finding. It reads what you wrote and surfaces the few people whose own words line up with it, near you or anywhere.
• Reach out. Each one comes as a few honest lines about them. If it's what you were after, you write to them, and they see you the same way.

That's the whole thing. Nothing to broadcast, no audience to win over, no feed to keep up with. What you said is what does the work.

• It runs on words. What you're actually thinking about is the whole signal, so the quiet person stands on equal footing with the loudest one in the room.

The name

Ceci n'est pas un pub. The old third places, a good pub, a workshop, a corner shop, were where you'd run into the person who happened to know the thing you needed, or cared about the thing you cared about. Notapub is that lucky run-in, rebuilt: without the place, and aimed at whatever you're looking for.
