Delete your Notapub account

You can permanently delete your Notapub account and the data associated with it at any time. There is no waiting period and no third party involved — once you confirm, your data is removed from our backend within 24 hours.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, the following are erased:

Your account identifiers — phone number, and email if you ever linked one.
Your profile signals — every want, have, and free-text answer you've ever submitted.
Your conversation transcripts from in-app voice and text sessions.
Your vector embeddings in our matchmaking index.
Your messages sent to and received from other users.
Your location history and proximity records.
Your contact-match records (we only ever stored hashed identifiers; those are deleted too).
Any ephemeral session leases for live audio or other transient features.

Other users who interacted with you will retain their own copy of any messages you sent them — we cannot reach into their accounts on your behalf. Server-side aggregate analytics that don't identify you (e.g. "users in region X tend to ask about Y") are retained as anonymous statistics.

Timeline

Immediate: your account is signed out everywhere; you can no longer log back in with the same phone number unless you re-register.
Within 24 hours: all data listed above is removed from our active databases (Firestore, Vertex AI vector indexes, Cloud Storage).
Within 30 days: data is purged from our rolling backups. Until then, your data exists only in encrypted backups that we cannot search; we will not retrieve it for any reason.

How to delete — option 1: in the app

The fastest path is in-app:

Open Notapub.
Tap the ··· menu on the feed screen.
Tap Sign out → confirm.
On the sign-out confirmation, tap Delete my account instead of just signing out.
Confirm. Your account is queued for deletion immediately.

How to delete — option 2: by email

If you've lost access to the app or your phone number, send a deletion request from the email associated with your account (or a phone number you've previously verified) to:

Include the phone number you used to sign up. We'll verify ownership (a one-time SMS code or matching email) and complete the deletion within 7 days.

Heads up — deletion is permanent.

We do not keep a "deleted accounts" archive. Once your data is removed from active databases (within 24 hours of your request), we cannot restore it. If you re-install the app and sign up with the same phone number later, you'll start with a fresh, empty account.
