You can permanently delete your Notapub account and the data we
hold for you at any time. No waiting period, no third party
involved. Once you confirm, the data is removed from our active
systems within 24 hours.
What gets deleted
- Account identifiers: phone number, and email if you linked one.
- What you've shared: everything you've told Notapub about what's on your mind, what you're interested in, and what you'd like to talk about.
- Your conversations: the notes, messages, and voice and text exchanges you've had with other people.
- Your voice recordings from the Call feature, where they were kept on your account.
- Whom you reached out to: the people you connected with through the app.
- Location and nearby-people records from when you turned on location or nearby-device sensing.
- Your shared contacts: the names and email addresses you shared, and the record of people you may already know that came from them. Your contacts' phone numbers were never sent to us, so there's nothing else to remove here.
- Anything held briefly while you were using live features like the Call feature.
Other people you reached out to keep their own copy of anything you
sent them, we cannot reach into their accounts on your behalf.
Overall counts that do not identify you are kept as anonymous
totals.
Timeline
- Immediate: your account is signed out on every device. You cannot sign back in with the same phone number unless you re-register.
- Within 24 hours: all data above is removed from our active systems.
- Within 30 days: data is purged from encrypted backups. Until then it exists in those backups, which are not searchable for retrieval, and we will not restore them on request.
How to delete from the app
- Open Notapub.
- Tap the ··· menu on the feed screen.
- Tap Sign out and confirm.
- On the sign-out confirmation, tap Delete my account instead of just signing out.
- Confirm. Your account is queued for deletion immediately.
How to delete by email
If you've lost access to the app or your phone number, email
privacy@notapub.com
from the address linked to your account, or from a phone number
you've previously verified. Include the phone number you used
to sign up. We will verify ownership (a one-time SMS code or a
confirmation from your verified email) and complete deletion
within 7 days.
Deletion is permanent.
We do not keep a "deleted accounts" archive. Once your data
is removed from our active systems, we cannot restore it. If
you re-install and sign up with the same phone number later,
you'll start with a fresh, empty account.
